This seminar will address the use of inappropriate external cladding materials which have been installed on a number of high-rise buildings that have been identified as a major contributing factor to substantial fires which have occurred in Australia, the United Kingdom, China and the Gulf region.

These fires have resulted in the overwhelming need for amendments to Volume One of the 2016 edition of the National Construction Code. This seminar will cover the background and provide an overview of this amendment. This seminar will also present the diverse means of facilitating the use of appropriate cladding materials. In this seminar, you’ll also get a sneak preview of a new unique online tool which will assist architects and designers shortlist suitable claddings in accordance with NCC section C. The seminar will also clarify the distinction between products affected by the amendment to Volume One and other cladding products.

John Clampett and Homeira Aryanpad

John has been involved in the fire industry in Australia for over 40 years. Within that time John has been a professional fire fighter and had senior positions with the Melbourne Metropolitan Fire Brigade, the Australian Building Codes Board, the Building Research Association of New Zealand, CSIRO, Crown Entertainment Complex and Norman Disney and Young. John is also a registered building surveyor and has his own consulting company.

Homeira Aryanpad is a Chartered Professional Engineer with a Civil Engineering degree from Adelaide University. She has over 25 years of experience as an engineer in the building industry mainly within the manufacturing field as well as consultancy - specifically in the design and construction of airports.
