Course outline

The use of performance-based design will be explored as an option to achieving compliance with the NCC’s mandatory Performance Requirements.

The seminar will explain the fundamental principles of the performance-based code and how it is applied, along with an outline of ABCB resources available to support industry in its application. An overview of the ABCB reforms will be provided with the aim of fostering a performance culture, increasing innovation and productivity.

Presenter/Author

Ray is a Chartered Engineer and a Building Surveyor who has worked in the design and construction industry for over 30 years. He currently works for the Australian Building Codes Board and has previously worked in state and local government positions, academia, and private enterprise.

Boris has an extensive understanding of the Australian forest and wood products sector with over 30 years of direct involvement. As the National Manager – Codes & Standards for Forest & Wood Products Australia he coordinates the development and review of Australian timber standards, and associated building standards and codes, on behalf of the timber industry. He was involved with, and coordinated, the National Construction Code submission that now permits 8 storey timber apartment, hotel and office buildings as a Deemed-to-Satisfy solution.
