This seminar will develop project planning and project management skills for architects to help them become “project leaders” and contribute to the success of their team, project delivery and sustainability of their practice.

Topics include the project leader’s role in success, financial and resource management, planning for success and managing project risk.

John Wenzel: Management Consultant, Practice Design Pty Ltd

John Wenzel graduated with Bachelor of Business (Accounting) South Australian of Technology 1973. His relationship with architectural profession commenced in 1985 when John was appointed as in house Accountant for Adelaide based Woodhead Hall McDonald Shaw.

In 1991 John became a Shareholder and Director and is believed to be the first accountant to achieve this position in a major architectural practice. In 2001 John became General Manager and saw the company grow to in excess of 300 people with offices in all mainland capital cities in Australia plus China, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia.

John left Woodhead in 2011 and set up a firm named Practice Design which specialises in providing operational advice and services to architectural firms. His point of difference is that he understands finance and management and claims to understand how architects think.

  • Monitor and develop Key Performance indicators in order to manage teams, projects and resources
