Course outline

From the 2013 Regional Architecture Conference: Spirit of Place
Don Watson's employment with the Interim Committee of the National Estate (predecessor of the Australian Heritage Commission) during the recession of 1974 gave him a lasting interest in the history of Queensland’s built environment. He presents a chronology of Queensland architecture from the colonial beginnings through to the mid-20th century, and focuses on the stylistic influences of each era as adapted to the particulars of Queensland’s climate and locally available building materials.
