Dr Geoff Boughton has authored over 100 technical papers and a number of books including Timber Design Handbook HB108-98 published by Standards Australia and he participates in a number of Australian Standards committees on timber.
In this presentation he builds on his range of experiences and also on significant work undertaken by the timber industry to investigate the durability of timber, providing models for estimating this at the design stage and understanding how to get the best out of timber in the longer term. Geoff has an affinity for both timber and for design and this presentation combines those two interests.

Dr Geoff Boughton is director of a small timber consultancy business in Perth.
He teaches part-time in timber design at the Department of Civil Engineering at Curtin University and participates in a nation-wide timber information program - Wood Solutions. He participates in a number of Australian Standards committees on timber, and he represents Australia on an ISO committee on timber structures. Geoff has also been involved in many surveys of buildings after wind and earthquake events. This has given him an insight into the performance of many different materials in houses.
He is the author of over 100 technical papers and a number of books including Timber Design Handbook HB108-98 published by Standards Australia.
