Urban + Maidan: experience
Full price: $101.00
In this course, Anu Mathur and Dilip Da Cunha present their thematic landscape and environmental design research. Of particular interest, after a year of intense weather events in Australia, are their studies based on the historic flooding of the Mississippi and the contemporary investigations into the changing seawater, fresh water, groundwater and atmospheric environments of the great city of Mumbai. Their presentation provides salutary insights into natural and cultural fluxes and flows.
This course is based on Anu Mathur and Dilip Da Cunha's presentation at the 2012 National Architecture Conference: experience.
AACA Competency: Design
Anuradha Mathur and Dilip da Cunha: University of Pennsylvania, Parsons School of Design, New York
Mathur and da Cunha have focused their artistic and design expertise on cultural and ecological issues of contentious landscapes. Their investigations have taken them to diverse terrains, including the Lower Mississippi, New York, Sundarbans, Bangalore, Mumbai and, most recently, Jerusalem. An underlying thread in their work is a concern for how water is visualized and engaged in ways that lead to conditions of its excess and scarcity, but also the opportunities that its fluidity offers for new visualizations of terrain, design imagination, and design practice.
