Slips, trips and falls within a building generate two-thirds of worker’s compensation claims. This course is aimed at helping you reduce and manage architectural risks by providing detailed information on how to increase the slip resistance of flooring.

The presenter:

  • identifies the factors that impact on the slip resistance of flooring
  • discusses the relevant codes and standards and the importance of correct product selection and specification
  • outlines four methods for testing slip resistance
  • provides a range of solutions when a floor is found to have poor slip resistance.

    Presenter/Author

Peter Westgate: Technical Manager, CSIRO Manufacturing and Infrastructure Technology

For the past 12 years, Peter has been involved with the Sustainable Materials group which is part of CSIRO’s Manufacturing and Infrastructure Technology division. He currently leads the Melbourne section of the Slips, Trips and Finishes team and says architects contact CSIRO about slip-resistant flooring more than any other issue.
